While laying wide awake in bed, watching the clock tick down every minute that I am losing out on that oh so important sleep I started thinking about the report from Allstate Canada that I read earlier in the summer.
The report was based on a poll that was conducted for the Allstate Canada insurance company. This poll found that 75% of Canadian drivers do something other than focus on the road while behind the wheel. Everything from talking on a phone, texting, emailing, changing music, eating, drinking, or applying makeup, and yes even arguing with the calm voice coming from your GPS unit instructing you to make a U turn when it is safe, can be a big enough distraction to cause a fender bender or full fledged crash. According to statics completed by a Ledger Market survey Albertans are the worst offenders of distracted driving.
Have we become a society that is in such demand the new generation has brought multi-tasking to a dangerous level?
Why this popped into my mind at 2 o'clock in the morning when all I wanted to think about were the sheep I had been trying to count as they jumped through my brain like they had all ingested several cans of red bull, I do not know. Could it have been the road rage I felt caused by that distracted jeep driver that cut me off earlier today?
If you care to share your views with me on this topic I welcome and look forward to reading your comments.
All the best,
Corey
